Care Corner

Snowden Library's Care Corner

The Care Corner is a program that aims to provide Lycoming College’s student body with basic hygiene necessities that are not readily available through other resources (i.e., Health Services, Residential Life) on campus.

Located inside Snowden Library on the first floor, the Care Corner offers small sizes of basic hygiene products, including:

  • Shampoo Shelf with inventory of items.
  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Body Lotion
  • Bar Soap
  • Menstrual products
  • Deodorant
  • Lip Balm

All items are free to students and will be stocked as needed. There is no limit on what students can take. However, we ask that students only take for their immediate needs and leave some for others, as the items we can provide are limited. This is a shared resource and we hope students will respect the needs of others when utilizing it.

At this time, the library is not accepting item donations. Please check back periodically for information on how to support the Care Corner.

Background on the Care Corner

Snowden Library is an active advocate for students' educational needs, as students from all backgrounds have the right to an education without restrictions or barriers. In an effort to meet the needs of our students, we are committed to providing educational resources as well as supplies required for proper hygiene and wellness. The lack of these critical resources and the shame associated with asking for help can prevent students from wanting to go to class or participate in programming geared toward building community. By keeping an inventory of basic hygiene supplies, we hope to support our student body by helping to eliminate a potential obstacle for anyone struggling with their basic needs.

Part of Snowden Library's mission is to contribute to the cultural and intellectual life of the student body as well as collaborate with faculty to provide instruction and support to students. Through our services in the classroom and this program, we hope to continue to provide a solid foundation for all students.

The implementation of the Care Corner was made possible through a generous grant from the Associated College Libraries of Central Pennsylvania (ACLCP) Research and Publication Grant.
